50k Course

Start to Aid 1 - 11.4 miles +2,405/-2,152 ft

**Crew allowed - Parking at Yellow Fork Trailhead**

This first section is the longest and most gnarly. All the more reason to get it done first on fresh legs and in the cool morning. You will go from smooth single track to a steep and rocky ridge. After following this ridge and descending  back into the canyon will be one of the most scenic sections of the course. After this you hit another ridge followed by some easy dirt road running. Finally you head down beautiful single track to the aid station.

This section is long and hard. Make no mistake. The average runner will be 3 hours before they reach the aid station. Prepare accordingly with food and water. This will be early in the day which will help tremendously.

Aid 1 to Aid 2 - 5.9 miles +1,206/-1,206 ft

**Crew allowed - Parking at Yellow Fork Trailhead**

Hands down the most scenic section of the course overall. You will be amazed at the varying views you encounter during this loop. There is one big climb that offers great scenery the entire climb up.

Aid 2 to Aid 3 - 4.8 miles +837/-837 ft

**Crew allowed - Parking at Yellow Fork Trailhead**

You start your way up a dirt road with unmatched scenery for a road. You will climb up one last time to the ridges only to drop back down on the incredible single track trails. Enjoy them while you can because you will leave for the finish line after upon reaching the aid station again.

Aid 3 to Finish - 7.8 miles +812/-1,065 ft

*Cutoff for leaving aid 3 is 1:30 pm*

This section has it all as well. Great scenery, vistas, and single track trail. Do not underestimate this section due to the lower amount of elevation gain. By now it will be hot out and you will be exposed for much of this section. Bring plenty of water from the aid station. You will finish the last couple of miles on the beautiful and shaded Butterfield Canyon trails giving you that extra push to finish this race strong and hopefully smiling.

We will have more substantial food at Yellow Fork Aid Station starting around 2 pm for the 50 milers still enjoying the course.

Butterfield Aid Station for the 50 miler has extremely limited parking. Crew are not allowed at this aid station and will be asked to leave. Our permits depend on it.

Yellow Fork Aid Station for the 50 miler, 50k, and 30k located at the Yellow Fork Trailhead has plenty of parking. Crew are welcome to come hang out with us at the aid station and cheer you on.

Navigation

Course is well marked with pink flags, ribbons, signs, and trail marshals. The flagging will come before, during, and after the turn. This flagging will be on the same side of the trail as the turn. For example, a right turn will have flagging on the right side of the trail before and after the right turn.

We will only mark turns, trail changes or areas we feel need it. If you come to an intersection or see a trail branching off the main trail and there are no flags stay on the same trail and continue straight. This course will be well marked.
